Jen Tompkins - Owner/Director

Jen Tompkins has been teaching all disciplines of dance and choreographing competition routines for more than twenty years. She has studied Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Jen is currently the owner/director of planetdance located in Canton, MI. Her students have won numerous scholarships, overall awards at conventions and competitions, full scholarships to Point Park in Pittsburgh, toured with Meghan Trainer, industry commercials and toured with several recording artists. Jen has traveled with several dance conventions and has choreographed for “Americas Best Dance Crew.” Her cutting edge choreography has won numerous awards at both regional and national competitions and teaches workshops all around the United States. She loves teaching dance and instilling the same love in her students, which carries through all their years of dance. 

Karen Eck

Karen Eck has been dancing since the age of 4 beginning at St. Marys School of Dance in

Detroit, and later becoming a member of the Mid-West Ballet Theater Company. She is a long

standing member of Dance Masters of Michigan and Dance Masters of America, and has been

living the dream of teaching for the past 30+ years! Miss Karen has served on the Board of

Directors and is currently the Secretary for DMM.  Passing all of the traditional core exams (Ballet, Tap, Jazz), she is a Post Graduate of Teachers Training School at State University of New York at Buffalo through DMA, and having passed her Cecchetti Teacher Exams, she is continually bringing up to date dance training to her students. She creatively includes terminology, history and kinesiology. Karen specializes in teaching children and has developed a successful dance program for young children. Karen has students that have gone on to perform in wonderful shows such as Broadways “Billy Elliot”, “Kinky Boots”, and “Frozen”. She is married to Chuck for 40 years, has one daughter and a crazy pug! She is beyond excited to be at Planetdance!

Lori Asmann

Lori is certified to teach ballet, tap, and jazz by the Dance Masters of Michigan and the Cecchetti Council of America.  She has taught ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and competition classes for over 30 years and taught dance workshops and audition classes for organizations such as the Michigan Opera Theatre, North Carolina Dance Masters, and the Oklahoma Dance Masters.  She has judged regional and national competitions for KAR, Rainbow, and Platinum, as well as title competitions for various Dance Masters of America chapters.  In addition to judging she has choreographed for stage and TV.  As a dancer she has toured professionally with the National Auto Show, internationally with the show "The Great Pretenders". and danced for the Detroit Pistons, and performed in, and choreographed or directed over 30 plays.  Her favorite performance was with the Michigan Opera Theatre in "The Pirates of Penzace."  In addition, she is a member of SAG and AFTRA appearing in numerous TV commercials, sings professionally for weddings and coffee houses, records voice-overs for radio commercials and websites, and has numerous print ads to her credit.  

Ryan Heatherwick

Ryan has been dancing for over 15 years and has been a teacher at planetdance for four years.  Ryan grew up inside planetdance as he watched his sisters train, he quickly became in love with the art.  Ryan grew up training in ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and contemporary.  He traveled all over the country taking classes and conventions with some of the most sought after choreographers.  Ryan's unique and amazing style has won overalls and choreography awards at both regional and national competitions.  

 

Lindsey Koshowsky

Lindsey Koshowsky has been dancing for 14 years.  This will be her 4th year teaching at planetdance.  She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop.  This will be Lindsey’s 9th season as a planetdance company member.  Lindsey currently holds the title of National Miss Senior On Pointe with her open solo choreographed by Dee Caspary.  She is a two time Planetdancer of the year winning as both a Junior and a Senior.  As a competitive dancer she has won several regional & national titles, overalls and scholarships to further her dance training.  She has traveled the country to train and take class from some of the top dance educators in the industry.  Lindsey loves to use her passion for dance and teaching to inspire younger dancers to find their passion for different dance styles.  She is excited for the new season.   

Kendall Stasser

Kendall began dancing at age 3 and has been with planetdance ever since!  She has trained in all styles of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, musical theatre and lyrical.  As a competitive dancer, Kendall has won numerous overall awards and many scholarships at conventions all over the country.  She is a 4 time winner of the "planetdancer of the year" award.  In 2015, Kendall won the title of Wayne/Westland Junior Miss where she won the categories of talent, fitness and interview.  She has trained under some of the best choreographers in the industry and has been teaching for the past 5 years.  Kendall danced competitively for 15 years and has competed with some of the best dancers around.  Teaching at planetdance is something she absolutely loves to do and being able to share her love of dance with the students is something she has always dreamed of.  

 

 

Courtney Stone

Courtney Stone began her dance training at the age of four and quickly developed a passion for the art.  She trained extensively in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-Hop and Musical Theatre as a dancer.  As a competitive dancer she won numerous overall awards and scholarships to train with some of the most sought-after choreographers.  Courtney has been teaching all genres of dance at Planetdance for the past 14 years, specializing in Tap.  Her students have won numerous overall awards and national titles at various competitions.  Courtney loves sharing her passion for dance with her students and enjoys inspiring them by providing a positive environment for them to develop their love of dance.

Kristen Quesada

Kristen Quesada has been a dance educator and choreographer for 25 years.  She has directed and choreographed countless plays and musicals, and spent several years traveling the country as a spokesperson for the International Auto Show circuit.  Her dance background includes professional training in all genres of dance, specializing in tap, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary and lyrical.  Many of Kristen’s students have gone on to win state and national titles, and overall high score awards.  Kristen’s passion for training students to maximize their performance potential has proven successful, as many of her former students are working professionally as dances and actors for Disney World, Disney Tokyo, Hollywood Studios, Busch Gardens, in Las Vegas shows, on cruise ships, in music videos, on nationally televised awards shows, in national commercials, for The Radio-City Music Hall Rockettes, and on Broadway.  Kristen is a member of various professional organizations, including Dance Masters of Michigan and Dance Masters of America.

Andrew Crowther

Andrew Crowther started his gymnastics training at the age of seven in Great Britain.  Once moving to the United States, he continued his training at the Michigan Academy of Gymnastics under the tutelage of two former Olympians.  As a competitive gymnast he won numerous overall and individual event awards, including being the state champion on the rings and vault.  Andrew is currently an instructor at the Michigan Academy, teaching all ages of male and female gymnasts.
